We're still waiting to see if Fahey is going to veto the bill, he's just sitting on it right now. But in the mean time, from the Omaha World Herald
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- A day after the Omaha City Council passed an ordinance undoing the city's ban, Mayor Mike Fahey ordered that all city-owned property be gun-free. That includes Rosenblatt Stadium, the Omaha Civic Auditorium, pools, golf courses, public works buildings, fire stations and any other city-owned property except for law-enforcement buildings. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Like a child throwing a temper tantrum. You're right, we need to get rid of him. |

Fahey did veto the measure.
The council overturned his veto 5-2, same vote as the repeal of the ban. WAHOOO! Also of note, the Lincoln, NE (State Capitol) city council tabled a proposed measure to restrict CCW which also included other firearms possession restrictions by a vote of 5-2 before it even got a chance for a hearing or public comment. The measure was sponsored by Mayor Colleen Seng and the LPD chief (CCW = gun proliferation = more violent crime). The tabling action by the council effectively killed the measure since it can only be recalled to active status by one of the council members who voted to table it. We're on a roll!

I posted to this thread yesterday, but it disappeared...
The Omaha City Council overturned Fahey's veto on Aug 1st by a 5-2 vote. The City Council in Lincoln, NE (State Capitol) also killed a measure proposed by Mayor Colleen Seng to restrict CCW and prohibit folks convicted of many 2nd class misdemeanors from firearms possession. The proposal was shelved by a 5-2 vote prior to public hearings and can only be resurected by one of the council members who voted to shelve it. We're on a roll!
