As far as the posted signs, I think that you will begin to see them disappear over time. Once people realize that crime stats are down and the streets aren't running red with the blood of vengence (as the Plain Dealer would have you believe) the signs will be few and far in between.
I think Ohio is the same as Georgia- If a PRIVATE business has posted, you can ignore and still carry. If you are made, they will ask you to leave. As long as you leave with no incident then al will be fine. If you protest, then the cops will come and give you a tresspass charge. Can someone from Ohio clarify this?

Doc, I think you're right that the signs will decrease. Another big factor will probably be as their IT infrastructure gets built up to handle the requests more efficiently. As you get more licensees out there, the potential business impact of denying access becomes a bit more significant. But the main issue will be the very fact that it is a non-issue!

No, you can't just ignore the CPZ signs.... If you are noticed, and refuse to leave, iirc, it's a tresspassing charge....

A law that took effect last April gave Ohioans the right to carry concealed weapons, but allowed only the news media access to the names of those issued permits. The Plain Dealer is periodically publishing lists of permits issued in Astabula, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage and Summit counties. The law makes only the permit holder's name, date of birth and county of residence available to the news media.
The Plain Dealer Printed on 07/27/2006 If the info is not made available to the public, then why can the "Garbage Dealer" make it public info???? I might understand it if they were reporting a story such as.... John Doe robbed a store with a gun, and because we at the Garbage Dealer have access to the CCW list, have found that Mr. Doe (did/did not) have a valid CCW license........ I completely understand the freedom of speech, and the value of the press. However, the news media today cares less about the news, and more about getting a reaction. I really don't see how publishing the names of CCW holders is considered "news", or what it will accomplish. Why do they print the names anyway? Wait!!!!I know!!!!! Now the BG's will know who NOT to attack......Personally I can't wait until they print the list of names in July. My name will be proudly displayed as someone who took the time and effort to recieve training. Who cares about his family, who is a law abiding member of society. And who feels a whole lot safer than he used too. CW |
