I predict that this matter will be glossed over and swept under the rug very quickly. After all, he is a Demoncrat in good standing. So what if he feels he needs a gun, and in D.C.? He is an elected official after all! Would you want him going around un-armed?

Now you on the other hand....you don't need a gun. You have all those cops running around to protect you.

The rules for everyone else do not apply to Demoncrats after all.....what were you thinking?

Senator Webb is Very Pro-Gun

Webb is a dedicated pro-gunner. Same cannot be said for Kennedy whose bodyguards get into legal trouble protecting his fat butt.

He says he's pro-gun but has yet to honor his promise to reintroduce the Allen guns-in-national-parks bill.

WND reported that Congressmen are allowed to carry firearms on all federal property. No wonder they aren't jumping to help us mere citizens.

In the trial, I truly hope all involved get onto the witness stand and testify. It would be golden to have a Dem. formally get into the record that his rationale for carrying is the simple fact that it's the only true way to protect one's self on the instant of an attack.

Carrying a loaded firearm in D.C. is an oversight? Sort of like saying that a BG's attack on innocents is an accident.

Frankly, I think there should be 100% mandatory carry of firearms in the Senate and House chambers. Perhaps they would be more polite and respectful of getting the people's business done correctly, and legally. Nah. Perhaps not. They're politicians. Died in the wool.

I can't believe someone would be this stupid as to try and smuggle a gun past a check point. I wonder if the staffer knew what was in tne bag? I can't wait to see how this turns out.

Bingo.

Webb is also, although a Dem, touted to be pretty 2A. Many of the latest elected Dems are but the party leadership is slightly left of Mao. Webb also has a VA CCW I believe.

The aide should not even open his mouth without a lawyer. The lawyer shoudl advise that he was personally entrusted with the bag of a US Senator and given instructions to return it to his office.

Lesson for the little people out there... Don't ever put something through security that you have not ensured personally is clean.

This little case should show the lunacy of criminal prosecutions for simple possesion as well as the importance of INTENT in gauging what is criminal behaviour.

And that will be what it is: corruption, and a good example of the concept of "equal protection under the law" (proportional to your connections and/or your bank account).

I see one of three outcomes:

1) The aide takes the fall....nothing happens
2) The aide takes the fall.........pays a fine
3) The aide takes the fall....goes to jail (NOT LIKELY)

What do all three have in common?

SENATOR GETS AWAY SCOTT FREE! (don't you love politicians?)

There is nothing to say that the Senator should not get away scott free here. If he told the aide there was a gun in the bag and the aide forgot it was the aide's fault.

IF the senator gave the aide the bag, didn't say what was in it, and then orderred the bag to be taken to his office then he is partly to blame.

The real catch is that the person carrying the bag is responsible for it. The aide learned this the hard way and the fact that they are Dems does not make me feel they need to be punished beyond what a Rep would be punished. If anything the complete lack of intent should allow this thing to be resolved without criminal court in my opinion.
