Texas: Perry signs SB112: Confiscation Prohibition

From NRA ILA: On Friday, April 27, Governor Rick Perry (R) signed into law Senate Bill 112:

http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/tlodo...l/SB00112I.htm

NRA-backed this legislation to prevent the confiscation of firearms and ammunition from law-abiding citizens during a future state of emergency or natural disaster. This important measure will ensure that what occurred in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina will never happen in Texas.

Please take a moment to send an email of thanks to the bill's sponsors State Senator John Carona (R-Dallas) at john.carona@senate.state.tx.us <mailto:john.carona@senate.state.tx.us> and State Representative Frank Corte (R-San Antonio) at frank.corte@house.state.tx.us <mailto:frank.corte@house.state.tx.us> .

Good news. Let's hope the other states fall in line.

In some places, the eyes are wide open. Texas, eh? How's the weather this time o' year?

A surprisingly wet spring for San Antonio. Everything's very green.

Happy to get the no-confiscation law done before hurricane season!

We don't really need this law in Arizona: we're immune to natural disasters. Hurricanes? Nope. Tornados? Nope. Tsunamis? Nope. Earthquakes? Nope. Volcanos? Nope. Blizzards or ice storms? Nope. Heat wave? That's an everyday occurrence here.

Right now, our biggest disaster is too many people moving in, from both the south and the west.

Now watch a meteorite hit Phoenix and prove me wrong...

Actually, Arizona has quite a few volcanoes, particularly in the Flagstaff area (the San Francisco volcanic field). Sunset Crater last erupted around 900 years ago (a comparative eyeblink in terms of geologic time). Renewed activity sometime within the next few thousand years is quite likely.

Good point. Then again, not a lot of people live in that area. Would a volcano three hours' drive from Phoenix be a threat to this city? I was rather young at the time, but I don't remember Mt. St. Helens causing much destruction to human habitats.

Congrats Texas. But I've gotta wonder...How did Michigan beat you to this one? Our Governer was attorney general for cryin out loud. If we could just get her to push for banning of designated victim zones...
