There is only one gun law in this country, the 2nd Amendment. All else is bureaucratic nonsense that I choose to comply with or not at my discretion.

When governments make laws, they must consider the unintended consequences.

True the ''anti gun furore'' is muted compared to what we might have expected but - cynical me - I see political cobras lurking and waiting to strike, when it suits, rather than prematurely which might hurt their votes.

I of course too - would really like to think that ''the message'' might just be getting thru - that's the optimist in me
I agree, and I also agree with those who are saying, "Wait for the election."

This upcoming presidential election is, I believe, going to be the make-or-break moment of truth for we gun owners and carriers.

We need to fight HARD for the next year and a half to make sure that a) we get as many pro gun laws passed in our states as possible, b) we fund up pro gun activists like the NRA and others, c) know for SURE who we are voting for and what they stand for, d) try to win as many people over to our side as humanly possible, e) write our legislators and congressmen, f) let everyone know that we will not slip quietly into the night. We have rights, we will defend and fight for those rights.

It really should be simple.

If being shot at, pick a defense:
  • Prayer.
  • Telephone.
  • Playing 'possum'.
  • Firearm.

Being actively shot at by a gunman, with each one of the above are you better off, or worse? Even the simplest of minds should appreciate that it's far better to be safe than to merely feel safe. Having an actual ability to defend yourself trumps even the warmest and fuzziest feelings of thinking you're prepared. It's that simple.

Getting through the mental blocks folks have? Some won't ever see the rationale, until they themselves are victiminzed with a gun is in their faces being forced to see reality. Even then, the realization might not get through.

However, for a majority of folks, I think, the simple reality of being armed or disarmed is basic. In the U.S., the government hacks in charge of the purse strings are also deeming it their civic duty to be in charge of our lives. A lot of people have a problem with that, and when push comes to shove and a gun's in play, the last thing most folks want is some bureaucratic functionary dictating if/when one may engage in the defense of his/her own life.

Getting through? To many, yes.

For those endangering our rights? Full-court press. Always. 'Cause it is, truly, a matter of life and death.

Don't forget :

* Talking them out of shooting at you.

I'd had conversations with people where they think they could convince the BG to stop. Weird...

Absolutely. I don't know why anyone would think that just because they've toned it down some about gun control, that they no longer plan to foist it on us as soon as they are able.

Their relative quiet on gun control should not be taken as evidence that they no longer want it; understand that the democrats have simply learned that the more they shoot their mouths off about it, the more it hurts them with voters. Gun control is not an issue that will get them voted in, it's an issue that will keep them voted out; so they wait until they're already in before they start up with the anti-2A laws.

But I have seen more pro-gun laws passed at an accelerated rate and I am almost like afraid I am dreaming this.

I know we are in the digital era plus the information superhighway era and that the Old Media is not adapting due mostly to political leanings (and losing power little by little) but still seems unreal that the voice of reason is being heard loud and clear.

I am guessing that in this new age there is nothing more dangerous to a politician's career that an electronic grassroots with the power to get info and to be heard by independant means and the old traditional power to vote.

I think people realize that we ar at war with Islam and it is for real and for keeps and it is only a matter of time until it comes to our soil on a daily basis. We NEED our firearms, more now than ever before.

I think the elected "gun grabers" are just staying low until after the election. I see enough of the liberal ilk in other rooms baying about gun control to think it is a dead issue to politicans.

There are also more pro-gun Democrats these days.

And to claim that politicians are "slaves to the vote" is like saying "contractors are slaves to building materials." All of them are responsible to their electorate. It ain't just Democrats.

I'm not at war with Islam, nor has the United States government declared such. If we are, we have a strange way of prosecuting it. If you wish to say Islamic terrorists, then I'd agree, although we still have a strange way of prosecuting it.

They are at war with you. Open your eyes. Or don't. It will be on the streets of America soon enough and then you will see the real agenda, Islam does not tolerate christianity or anyone not profesing loyalty to islam.
