Am I dreaming?

I am afraid to ask and wonder but, is it that our message is coming across in this new age. Conventional wisdom dictates that after V-Tech we should be flooded with draconian anti-gun legislation. A decade ago we would be discussing how to stash our high cap magazines, save on reloading stuff and brace ourselves for the onslaught. But I have seen more pro-gun laws passed at an accelerated rate and I am almost like afraid I am dreaming this.

I know we are in the digital era plus the information superhighway era and that the Old Media is not adapting due mostly to political leanings (and losing power little by little) but still seems unreal that the voice of reason is being heard loud and clear.

I am guessing that in this new age there is nothing more dangerous to a politician's career that an electronic grassroots with the power to get info and to be heard by independant means and the old traditional power to vote.

Agreed, also IMO they are starting to realize that it didn't work last time.
Maybe they will finally 'get it' that the people who vote for them want to protect themselves.

I still think it's early to judge Miggy - ask the same in a year or more's time!

True the ''anti gun furore'' is muted compared to what we might have expected but - cynical me - I see political cobras lurking and waiting to strike, when it suits, rather than prematurely which might hurt their votes.

I of course too - would really like to think that ''the message'' might just be getting thru - that's the optimist in me

I hope you are right Miggy. I think people are getting wise to the fact that gun control does not work. Maybe we will see a swing to the pro gun side now.

I can hope anyway.

I think its getting through.

I would have thought when we started teaching CHL classes back in '95' that eventually the area would have been saturated...however that is not the case. The classes are as big as ever, to the point that we have had to limit them.

Back then, the internet was just getting started. The viewpoints of the major media were pretty slanted and some were downright socialist. All of a sudden one could get different opinions on things and read things that they had never seen before.

Things travel quickly on the internet. We see things that the media wouldn't post due to time constraints, we hear things reported that never would have seen the ink on paper and we can research just about anything our hearts desire.

Maybe...just maybe...

People are waking up and paying attention in a way that the liberal news media cannot control.

I wouldn't dismiss the anti-gunner one bit; I think they are biding their time to "strike." Meanwhile, they chip away bit by bit....I foresee further calls to close the FTF transaction "loophole" and further attempts to ban .50 caliber and semi-automatic (mis-named as "assault weapons") rifles, and magazines above ten rounds.

Let's see how it goes after the 2008 presidental election.

HOLYROLLER
The Dems are "gunshy" (pun intended). It was the issue that lost them control in the mid 90's. They are slaves to the vote and they realize that the majority of Americans are for guns. They are too scared to move on this, even in light of VT.

Do not underestimate the likes of Feinstein, Schumer, Kennedy, Pelosi & McCarthy, et al. If you think they've given up the gun control fight, you're dead wrong. As long as this gang remains in office, they are dangerous.

These people are committed to taking our guns away from us, even if it's only one little step at a time. Never forget that.

I just talked to a cousin the other day, he's going for his carry permit. He told me that he talked to two instructors that are now offering classes every Saturday instead of every other Saturday or once a month.
