DC - legally owned gun(less) disaster

This was actually from yesterday's NRA-ILA site report - had mean to post it then. Just a call for action - but I won't hold my breath.

I pity anyone who has to ''survive'' in DC - the thugs are still it'd seem well armed but pity the poor guy going about his lawful life at times.

Guess Chicago comes into same category really too.

Repeal D.C. Gun Ban

Washington Times

It is time to repeal the District`s gun laws. Just consider a few statistics: Five years before the D.C. Council banned nearly all firearms in 1976, the District`s murder rate fell from 37 to 27 per 100,000 people. In the five years after 1976, the murder rate rose to 35 per 100,000 people. Between 1976 and 1991, the D.C. homicide rate rose 200%. The national homicide rate during the same 15-year period rose just 12%.

If a BG dies as the result of pointing a gun at me, then he has merely succumbed to an occupational hazard of being a thug

Chris,

Yep I saw this and related articles.

Preachin' to the Choir...

... interesting the places with restrictions have increases, places with no restrictions, or shall I say allow CCW and such have declines. DC vs VA , check the stats for instance.

Gun Control = Open Season for Prey.

Criminals may be dumb - they ain't stupid, so they go to where folks restricted.

Now some politicians...that dumb/ stupid thing gets ...well...you know.

Hard to think when so many needs and too few pockets to steal from....messes with the brain .

Let a couple of politicians get attacked and maybe they will change it, but I doubt it. They would just exempt themselves from not being able to carry. If they haven't already done it....

That's what they did in Illinois and Chicago.

Of course, the rest of us risked a felony every time we walked out the door.

I'm no hippie or anything but why did this statistic stop in 1991?

Bumper the only problem the politicians have is their bodyguards can't hold onto all of their hardware they are lugging around. Remember the bodyguard of "Drowm them young Ted".

Probably becuase it continued to go so high they don't want to report it. Sorta messes up tourism. It is also dispicable situation in our nation's capitol.

And it appears that those "nice" folks from DC are moving out into Maryland's PC County, where there is no CC, and the crime and murder rate is rapidly rising......... So, I'm sure Maryland in it's wisdom will do something to further restrict gun ownership. (Can't wait to retire and get out of the state!)

When I lived there I went into a CVS near the Capital and there was a security guard at the door checking ladies purses and putting them in a locker.

DC local politikos will never allow their citizenry to become armed. They want to keep them suckling from tit of the DC government. This is not a city that believe in self determination and personal responcability. Case in point, the reelection of Marion Berry.
