Student Suspended For Advocating Gun Rights (Merged)
Here's one example of why we must be cautious of bills like the "Veterans Disarmament" Act. This student was suspended and the college has ordered him to have a mental health evaluation.

So, if you say something the thought police don't like, you get labeled as "mentally defective" and are required to submit to a psyc evaluation to continue your education... Wonderful freedom of speech they have there.
I wonder how big of a stink would be raised over this if he had been advocating gay marriage. And I'm fairly sure that a university requiring mental treatment doesn't carry any legal weight on a 4473, the way court-ordered treatment would. At least, for now it doesn't.

Speak a word, question the status quo, mention the fool's hope of some policies ... and you get the axe. Very nice. May the Katz case in Medford, Oregon, go all the way, if for no other reason than to light a fire to the ineffectual policies of victim disarmament.

If the student had questioned the Administration's Position on ANYTHING EXCEPT Right-to-Carry issues (i.e. - drugs, abortion, Satan, paper or plastic, boxers or briefs) I doubt they would have insisted on a Mental Evaluation before allowing his return to campus. Are guns & our right to carry them becoming a taboo topic of discussion?!?

Burn is a good word for how this kind of crap makes me feel too!
Especially the "mental evaluation" part! Time for a lawsuit!

Actually I heard that there was going to be one... I don't think it mentions it in this article. But Jim Quinn said it this morning on his talk show.

Found this a minute ago might shed some light on the situation.
http://www.news.com/8301-13578_3-979...ews&tag=2547-1 passed out as part of Students for the right to carry on campus. Warning us of backlash and to remain calm and use our heads. |
