PA Reject Gov's Appeal for Gun Control

http://cbs3.com/local/Governor.Ed.Rendell.2.572694.html

That's what I like to see.

Quote:
After Rendell spoke, the House Judiciary Committee debated little before defeating one bill to limit most handgun purchases to one per month and another bill to empower local governments to enact their own gun-control laws. The votes were 12-17 and 10-19, respectively.
Quote:
Legislators tabled a third bill that would require owners to promptly report lost or stolen guns.
Not sure how I feel about this one. I'm thinking if one of my guns was stolen I'd probably report it anyway. But like other gun laws, this one is pretty unenforcable when it comes to bad people doing bad things.

I am happy for the " victory's " for the PA residents . IMHO tho its a dammed shame that such legislation even gets considered . I know here in colorado we dropped the ball on the " state of residence permit bill that passed into law last year and am glad that pa did not drop the ball .

I too would probably report a theft of a gun fast anyways. As 500mag says - this has little or no effect on those planning bad things.

I am relieved as heck that the preemption deal was saved .... if we lose that heaven knows what would follow - tho I am sure Philly anti's are wringing their hands!!

I guess we won that battle but the war continues!

Although it seems a good idea to make sure people report lost guns ASAP, and in theory it is, what is the punishment going to be if you don't?

Some people have many, many guns, Some in many, many places. They may not know for MONTHS if a gun is missing. What then?

It's another way to get at gun ownership. Next thing will be registration.

I actually heard from one of the Dem Reps yesterday when I called that it was very likely all going to "crash & burn" as far as any new firearm legislation being enacted.

It seems as if this was all proposed by the Philadelphia "Public Servants" in an attempt to "fix" the crime problems in Philly by inflicting their goofy anti~Constitutional crap across the entire state of PA.

Hey Philidelphia....Advice From QKShooter - Build a giant prison and lock your violent repeat offenders up in there and actually keep them in there for 20 years.
Problem solved.
Oh...Sorry...that would be too logical of a solution.

I am very happy for those of you in PA, but I'll offer to trade my state legislature for yours.
