Just voted -- still running 90% in favor of overturning the DC gun ban.

... and that is the last we will ever see or hear of that survey. Had it been in favor of gun control, it would be today's headline.

There is only one gun law in this country, the 2nd Amendment. All else is bureaucratic nonsense that I choose to comply with or not at my discretion.

When governments make laws, they must consider the unintended consequences.

Found this article interesting. The writer seems to think it could come down to punctuation.

Yeah, I noticed it was a bit iffy... but the poll question should be answered "Yes" if you want the ban done away with. The question is worded so as to sort of ignore the fact that the ban has already been struck down. This question is not, "Should the SCOTUS strike down the lower court's decision" (the answer would be NO), but "Should they strike down (redundantly) the ban itself." The answer to that one, of course, is obvious.

I think that writer is out of his mind.
It's clearly not the commas that create the ambiguity; it's the inclusion of the first (two) clause(s) in the first place. And anyone with any kind of reasonable understanding of grammar knows that the first part of the 2nd Amendment (the "preamble") is just explanatory, and offers the reason for the importance of not infringing on THE PEOPLE's right to keep and bear arms.

For the life of me I can't figure out why this guy is saying that it comes down to the commas, and not to "A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state." This guy is off the mark.

How true. You have to wonder if it was out stupidity that the poll question was worded that way or if it is a trick. Problem is a lot of people will not rationalize their answer. Bad poll.
