Has is it that these people do not understand that the tougher gun laws are, the more violent crime occurs?

Do they look at statistics? Or ever wonder about how no matter what laws they pass, it doesn't seem to help? Or are they just so set for a nationwide gun ban, that they don't look any further?

The only logical conclusion to draw is that those in power want more gun violence, as this gins up an emotional response from their constituents, as well as others who read the news stories. These folks in power can then play on the emotions of those who vote for them to get them to go along with increasingly restrictive gun laws, with the goal to be a ban on sales & confiscation of existing arms.

This has to be done through the emotions, because it is - as all of us here know - completely illogical and contrary to all available evidence. Logic & rationality is not the anti's friend - emotion is.

But there I go creating a logical argument for an emotional problem - aaarrgh!

Fortunately, WI will become a free state at some point in the not-too-distant future. The votes are in the legislature, we just need a governor who cares about personal responsibility & individual liberty. It'll happen...

I have no hope for IL though - I avoid it whenever possible.

I'm sure Chicago politicians are saying its all those illegal guns coming in from down state. So IL needs a statewide handgun ban and ban on all semi-auto long guns. Next step is rounding up all the already owned guns in the state by offering cash for volunteering your guns. Then they will blame IN, WI, IA, MO, and KY.

Has anybody noticed that Daley basically transformed Chicago into a mini Third World Police State? I wonder what the LEOs in this board think of the misuse of SWAT and other teams for stuff like this.

My family lives right outside Chicago. They know I hunt, shoot guns and interested my wife and kids to the sport......Lol, They say" you need to carry a gun for protection?" they do not understand....I tell tell them some day you will...Like right now!... butn they do not. My brothers wife is an anti-gun wacko...will not let her kids play with squirt guns??? I tell her baaaaaaa!

The solution is too simple for Mayor Daley to grasp.

Mandatory prison time for a gun crime. No plea bargain. No appeal. Serve the entire sentence, no parole.

I'll admit it might be fun, but this isnt the role and mission SWAT is designed for. Maybe they have prepped for this type of thing but I doubt it.

I know I'd be ticked on a few different levels and reasons if the dork of a mayor/city clowncil put SWAT out in my neighborhood.

On the other hand, this is the bed the people of Chicago made, I hope they are enjoying it.
