2nd Amendment Violations in NO Pt. 2?

I'm interested in everyone's predictions here. If New Orleans is hit again by a major hurricane, will the various law enforcement and National Guard entities once again violate the 2nd Amendment rights of the citizens in the aftermath?

I am willing to bet that with Ray Nagan still the Mayor of New Orleans, that we will indeed see some more 2A violations if Gustav or any other big hurricane hits there.

I wouldn't trust that guy to do the right thing if God himself was looking over his shoulder.

Mandatory Evacuations under consideration...

UPDATE 1-New Orleans evacuation may start early Sunday-mayor | Markets | Bonds News | Reuters

Local talk radio (Colorado) said that the NO powers-that-be have already indicated that anyone refusing to leave will be responsible for their own security.

I was wondering how that differed from any other day... but I digress.

I voted yes. The fact is, when things are going awry, or just plain out of the ordinary, authorities do what they think they have to do to preserve order. Sometimes they get it right. Often they overreact and violate the law themselves.

We saw several examples of this after Katrina, notably when people were prevented by authorities from leaving NO, at the point of a gun. We just had a discussion about some incidents in Colorado at the DNC.

So yes, there will inevitably be officials who do what they think they need to do, and let the courts, and public opinion, sort it out later.

Nagin + Katrina = Take away all legal guns from citizens...thousands of them...

Check the history...many of those individuals still haven't received their guns back (even after a court order).

Stay armed...stay out of NOLA...stay safe!

The only thing in the above that I disagree with is the term "many" in the context as written above!

I seriously doubt that many ever got their guns back. The vast majority of confiscated guns weren't returned and never will be returned. Regrettably there are no "teeth" (i.e. prison term) associated with a judgment against a governor/mayor/gov't that goes amok. An "order" to do the right thing doesn't make it happen . . . imprisonment of the "perps" will make things happen to correct the illegal actions and make many think twice before going down that path in later days. Nothing short of that is useful to ensure that the rights of citizens are respected by those that have no respect for their citizens.

I voted yes. SOS (same old story). Without suppression, there is no authority in the authority's eyes. They must maintain control.

Because Eddie Compass, the NO Chief of Police ordered that all civilian guns be confiscated, stating that only the police should have guns.

This was front page news. The NRA was all over it.
