Which anti-gun state would you live in?
If you HAD to live in an anti-gun state, which one would you choose and why? To me there would be 4 main factors. Could I still get a CCL? Could I OC? (Remember I am split on OC/CC it is an important matter to me and I can see both sides). Can I still own my semi-automatic rifles? Is there registration on firearms?
Massachusetts, New Jersey, Hawaii, DC and Illinois are out of the question. They fail all 4 categories. at least in IL you can still have an AK-47... but thats about it.I would consider New York or California since I can still get a CCL depending on where I am. Semi-auto rifles are a no go in both states, and I do not believe registration is an issue at least with long guns. I know handguns would be registered, but like I said CCL is legal in most parts of these states. OC is a no go in both states. Maryland I would consider except for the fact that CC/OC is pretty much non-existent. At least I could still own my AK-47 (with mag restrictions of course ), and my handguns without any registration. Maryland is more tempting then the rest. There is no registration in Maryland.Connecticut is OK. There is a waiting period, but no registration. My semi-autos would be a no-go, but I could get a CCL pretty easy there (its almost shall issue from what I hear). Rhode Island is the same as Connecticut pretty much, except the assault weapon ban. Wisconsin would be perfect if it wasn't for their ban on CCL's. Otherwise I would pick it. It would come down to a tie between DE or MD. Overall I'd pick Delaware... while restrictive, it allows all 4 categories with some restrictions. Assault weapons are OK +1. It allows OC +1. You can get a CCL after a lot of work, but it can be done +1. This is where Maryland fails over Delaware. Lastly there is no registration in DE. +1 My vote would be Delaware.

It is completely legal to own a semi-auto rifle in California. I send 10-12 guns to California per week; many of them semi-auto.

I voted California, because that's where I live now. Beautiful state, every kind of landscape you could ask for, from sandy beaches to snow capped mountains to deserts to forests of 1,000 year old redwoods. Friendly small towns and big city lights and entertainment. Got some crappy politicians, stupid laws and far left liberals though. I strongly resent some of the restrictions on what firearms I am allowed to own, but I vote, and write to my state representatives and just maybe we can change the laws.
CCW permits are not too difficult to get in my county, and while there are some guns I can't own here, there are others I can that will serve every purpose I want. Many semi-auto rifles are legal here, just not "evil looking assault weapons". The restrictions make no practical sense, since they are based on the appearance of a gun, not the function. Ron

I voted Hawaii. Cali has to many issues and high taxes. NY,NJ smog and people. Hawaii-if I can't carry at least everyone will be in bikinis and wetsuits so printing should happen.

I'd rather live under a bridge!
If I had to choose, perhaps RURAL CONN... Stay armed...buy a bridge...stay safe!

I picked the land of the Terminator.
While CCL permits are hard to get they can at least be obtained. And beside California is a wonderful beautiful state. |

I don't see a state on the list that I would consider living in, unless I knew it was a short stint for a contract job (less than a year). I even avoid going to California for work whenever I can.
Having lived in Washington and Alaska, both states where the 2A is alive and well and firearm regulations are rather non-restrictive, I guess I'm spoiled. Hard to teach and old dog new tricks. Edit: I suppose if I had to live in an anti-gun state, I would choose upstate NY and just stay away from NYC. Last edited by C Paul Lincoln; September 4th, 2008 at 09:42 AM. CT all the way I basically did live there last year,, no mag restrictions, there is no waiting period as long as you have your CCW. I actually bought most of my guns there and had them shipped home.
They are pretty much shall issue. If I'm not mistaken, you can still set some Semi-Auto rifles, the AWB list in CT is very specific, your "ban model" ARs are legal so it depends on what you have, I've seen plenty of M1As for sale in CT, as well as Mini14's Siagas etc. ![]() Then again I haven't been there in a year... Besides, all I'd have to do is reattach a fixed stock on my ban model Bushmaster and it's CT legal ![]()
