they were standing on bridges shooting at coast guard heli. ok now you temporary have no gun when it gets dark and a 12 man group of thugs wants to look around your house for something they like! Who are you going to call?

I have never, not once, said that I would be disarmed. Perhaps you didn't catch that, but it WAS in my very first post...

I asked one of my P.D. friends they had their own station set up for city cars. They let him fill up and fill all three of his cans! There were shootings at gas stations for three days and fuel was only short for about 5 days and I'm 4 hours inland and it missed us! It hit Gulfport come up thru hattiesburg, and thru meridian. I had a generator for my t.v, 1 lamp, 1 fan. I seen how people act up here, They would not have gotten my guns. We had a few crew's stake out our neighborhood, but soon got the message we were not sheep and left. Let somethig happen that shut's down fuel supply for more then 5 days and see what people will do.

That's not off topic at all, as a matter of fact, that is the topic. Katrina was just an example. I think a shortage of fuel is probably the most likely cause of riots, etc. I know I have a generator, I know I have food and water to last a pretty long while. I am ready if something like that happens...I know, I know...I have plenty of tinfoil also, just in case.

But I remember what happened after 9/11...when it took 6 hours to get to the gas station and we were paying $8.00 a gallon. The stores were later fined for it, but people were willing to pay it, and to wait in line for hours upon hours to get to the pump.

Anyway, I kind of feel like the best prepared are going to be the first targets if/when something like this happens again.

CD, you make an excellent point...watch what happens when people are without fuel for more than a week...

The problem is the cops/(contractors?) grabbing the guns illegally . Is this not the same as a BG grabbing your guns at gun point illegally. Performing an illegal act can not be justified with a badge.

They would run out of cops wanting to come to my neck of the woods! I know my neighbors!! We have sold our soul for oil, that's the next disaster coming like katrina, there is a warning! Just look Diesiel was 3.75 a gallon today, that effects everything everyone of us buys, or need to survive!!

Cap'n, that's kind of where I run into my dilemma. You're right, Performing an illegal act can not be justified with a badge., but when I shoot a BG for doing something like that, and the cops show up, I don't get shot at. If I shoot a cop for doing something like that, and they call back up, I do get shot at. Maybe I just need to buy a lot more guns. That way I can have some to give up, have some for defense, have some more to give up, and so on and so on and so on. I just need about 50 more AR-15's.

Or maybe I'll just start making some Bow and Arrows...

Temporary and localized. The cops in Katrina were stopped after what? A day or so? None of the folks who were disarmed (that I know of) were then faced with a situation where they needed their weapons and didn't have them. And really, the question is moot - if you met the cops with armed resistance the first time around, you're dead, and can't stop the "12 bad guys" in any case...

ETA - Yes, the problem is the illegal seisure. No, the solution isn't to be killed.

They will never run out of cops. You will lose. Your neighbors will lose. Go look at the Branch Davidian compound burning to the ground if you think otherwise - those guys had more guns than you and your neighbors, and it bought most of them a fiery death. Armed resistance would buy you exactly the same (in a temporary and localized scenario).

i have enough food, ammo, wood, and guns to hold almost anybody off for a long time. just because they have a badge dont make it right.
i will use my 4 plain sight and 3 hidden IR cameras and look hella paranoid but i wouldnt care at that point. my neiborhood would all do the same thing.
for some reason this topic has hit a tender area
