I haven't yet made officers full camel bone. I'm sure it will happen. This stuff is hard to find in the size required. I can find all kinds of it if I don't want to fit the frame well, but if I settle for that, what's the point?

I'll be watching for the first set you do.

Todays set is done in what I call my "Tweeners". Grips (either bobtail, government or officer) made in my tweener style are as thin as I can make them without requiring you to switch out bushing and screws to the slim style. They use the full size bushings and screws but save you as much as possible in the overall weapon width department. I also find them popular with people who have hands that just don't fit comfortably in either the ultra thin or the full thickness category.
These are done in Box Elder Burl. Very nice and visually interesting wood! Depth and figure for days. Enjoy! Sarge ![]() ![]() |

Sarge,
Thanks for the letting me know about the difference with these grips (tweener) being thinner but not having to switch out the bushings. I will have to start taking a closer look at these. My fault for not catching the difference earlier. ![]() |

I think I just named them and didn't tell anyone that didn't ask exactly what they were. My bad.
Hopefully this has cleared it up for a few people. There seems to be a gap there that needed to be filled. Sarge |

Todays set is one of my personal favorites. I was lucky enough to find a block of maple with this heavy and GORGEOUS spalt pattern. The great thing is, that this wood was still solid as a rock too. I think the spalting in what I got out of that block is some of the most beautiful I have ever seen. This is one of those sets that just makes me stop and stare. I hope you enjoy it as well!

Here's a set in Bloodwood with some very cool fossilized coral. I don't know how old fossilized coral is, I may have to look that up and see if there is even an answer for that..... I do know that it's beautiful with the white spines cutting through the blue of the surrounding area in the pattern that it does. Very cool stuff! The color combination of the red and the blue is something that I've always liked as well.
Enjoy! Sarge ![]() ![]() |

Amboyna Burl is a cool wood that can have many different looks and colors. I've seen yellow through orange and on to deep deep red bordering on black. This set is a rich reddish brown color which is beautiful, but the thing that does it for me is the burl pattern in it. Concentrated coverage so tight that it almost looks like slivers stuck together. Very interesting. Hope you enjoy the pics!
