Runnin' late today.....
Since I'm on a "red" kick of sorts, here's a set of my Ultra Thins in bloodwood. My UT's are just 1/8" thick - they don't get any thinner than that unless you put duct tape on and call it grips. ![]() Anyway, the grips can be made anywhere from the UT's 1/8" up to and over normal (1/4" ) thickness depending on what you want. Besides, red on a black frame is just flat out cool, so enjoy the pics. Sarge ![]() ![]() |

This is a set of EMP grips in Holly.
Holly is a wood that looks both in graining and color and AWFUL lot like natrual Ivory. It ages and darkens to a yellower color just like Ivory. It's not as tough as the Ivory, but it's only about 25% of the cost of it too. ![]() Anyway, it's a beautiful wood, especially against a dark frame as you can see. Enjoy, Sarge ![]() ![]() |

The Holly does look very much like Elephant ivory.
The Bloodwood grips are super nice also. Folks would be surprised how thin grips, a flat mainspring housing, & a short trigger will allow the 1911 to fit perfectly in even the smallest of human hands. |

This is a set I made for a customer who served with the 3rd ACR and was rightfully proud of his service. Just an example of insetting oversized medallions in the grips.
Black paper Micarta with 7/8" medallions. You can't really tell from the pics, but the medallions are totally encased and the grip panels smooth, just like a normal grip would be. Sarge ![]() ![]() |

Another set of mammoth tooth grips ordered by a customer who wanted them in Cocobolo. These are freshly finished and the cocobolo will turn a little more red and darker with exposure to the sun.

This may be the last post for a couple of weeks, I'm not sure. I have some military training in Mississippi that I'm leaving for at O-dark-thirty in the morning, and am not sure on internet access or time to use it while I'm gone.
Today's wood is BEAUTIFUL! Pommelle Bubinga. Trust me on this - the pictures do not do this wood justice. The depth and figure in this wood are phenominal. It's like a brook babbling over stones and it just makes you stare into it. I've had this wood in the shop for a while now, but the piece wasn't beg enough to use for full sized grips. Now that I have an EMP to fit to, I can use it AND have grips that fit. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it! I'll be back with more when I can. Sarge ![]() ![]() |
