Yeah the WWII museum is an absolute must. Be sure to see the Tom Hanks movie, Beyond All Boundaries. It is absolutely amazing. You can pretty easily spend a whole day there alone.

The aquarium and zoo are both very good too being part of the Audubon Society but you can see those in most cities.

Be well aware of street hustlers. No matter how you respond, you will lose money.

e.g. Hustler - "I bet $20 I can tell you where you got your shoes."

of course no one would know, from your Southern accent, you got your shoes from Kohl's mail order in Minot ND, so of course, you commit to the bet.

Hustler - "You got your shoes on your feet, on the sidewalk of Bourbon Street in New Orleans Louisiana - - Pay up sucker!"

Thanks for that. We're familiar with urban trash.

You might like lunch at Commanderís, actually.

If you overindulge, be careful. Jumping tipsy tourists is a major industry everywhere.

Any decent French Qtr. hotel can give you visiting ideas. Flying in is a good idea; everybody charges for parking now.

MSY just opened a new terminal.

I grew up there. A lot has changed externally, but some things are forever.

Yeah, flying in beats driving 1300 mi. I do really appreciate the suggestions for caution. I may have grown slack by letting the urban shell I used to wear get soft by living here.

There's two Drago's... one is in the bottom of the Hilton at the foot of Poydras so easy walk from the quarter. The second, and the original, is in Metairie on Veterans Hwy so it will take a car. Food is the same, atmosphere at the one in Metairie is a little better.

Personally, I prefer Acme over Dragos. Both good just personal preference.
