    Prayers request

I received a text from my brother last evening, asking if I was home, he was going to call.

I was expecting a text about going shooting this week.

When he called he asked if I was driving or working on anything important,

He explained he was in the hospital and would be for approximately the next 30 days for treatment,

My brother was just diagnosed with Leukemia.

If it is ever your misfortune to be attacked, alertness will have given you a little warning, decisiveness will have given you a proper course to pursue, and if that course is to counterattack, carry it out with everything you've got! Be indignant. Be angry. Be aggressive.

I am sorry to hear that. The most important thing is for him to be treated and especially to maintain hope. I went through this back in '95 and it was no fun but I survived, so it does happen. Also, the treatments are more advanced these days; more effective and less uncomfortable.
He will probably need a lot of support from family and friends. Especially some one who can to be available to keep an eye on what is going on with his treatment and advocate for him if there are problems with meds, treatment, or negative influences. Everyone is different but I can tell you that long term Hospital stays can get lonely there by yourself, so regular visits are helpful for moral.

The way out is the way through!

I agree that today's treatment protocols are worlds better than even just a few years ago.

Am praying for your brother, and for you for the strength to be his cheer leader and support as he goes through the whole long process. Strong, positive support from family and close friends goes a long way toward recovery.

    Done, for both of you.

Can he have a laptop or tablet in the hospital? Would beat the dickens out of staring at the ceiling for a month.

The situation will NEVER BE THE WAY YOU WANT, it WILL BE THE WAY IT IS. You must be FLEXIBLE ENOUGH TO ADAPT and just "DEAL WITH IT".
