Survival Tip: Turn jeans into personal flotation device

I was reading a news article about a fellow who fell off a boat and managed to use his jeans as a personal flotation device, and stayed afloat until he was rescued.

Here is a short video demonstrating how it works...

The Navy taught me this in Boot Camp in 1963. The expensive worn & torn jeans do not work well.

Kids learn this often in scouts and I believe every branch of the military teaches this as well -- most in initial entry training.

Learned it in High School PE class during swimming rotation circa 1960’s. Pants as well as how to inflate shirts/jackets while wearing them. Great class. Frankly, until this news story, I had forgotten about it....
