A tail of two states; New Jersey and Virginia. The New Jersey tail was already told. Here's the Virginia version...

"Two armed young men got more than they bargained for when they attempted to rob an older woman who turned the tables on them and pulled her own gun and shot both of the robbers. One was killed and his accomplice was seriously injured. No charges are expected to be filed against the victim who police said did the right thing to thwart the attempted robbery. This is News 9, Lynchburg".*

Such a vibrant culture. I wonder what they have planned for Father's Day? I mean aside from the usual confusion.

Yea tough one. Rainy day, probably glare on the car windows make it harder to see inside. Not that she was paying attention anyway and umbrella actually blocking her view of the car. Wild dogs just casing the street waiting for the right prey to come along. Even if you had a modicum of SA, would that vehicle sitting there idling by the curb catch your attention ... in time to evade? Give them the 'I see you' look, maybe walk closer to the building on your left. Ideally just cross the street altogether.

To show the huge difference in the way the story would likely have played out, had this event happened in the USA instead of New Jersey.

Remember......99.9% of everyone on the streets here are defenseless.....no weapons and most don't have hands on skills. It's a breeding ground for street crime in the cities and home invasions in the suburbs....this is only one instant that happens daily in Newark.....I worked there +20 yrs and have seen most everything you can imagine and more......don't come here, there's nothin' here for ya.
Why did the Moron buy a ladder...... he's takin' his case to a higher court.

I train with some of the Lynchburg SWAT guys, that story may be fictional, but it's pretty close to par for that area.

I don't train to fight some street urchin, I train to fight the evil version of myself, and that person scares me, because I know the time I put into my training on how to beat him.

There are plenty of bad people who will do bad things which may be unnecessary, illogical, unprovoked, impractical or just plain evil.. its nothing new. Cooperation or surrender is no guarantee that a person will not be harmed. Sometimes surrender is a good idea and sometimes its not, the trick is knowing how to tell the difference
