Mike1956, we're having a discussion, not an argument. Always appreciate hearing what you have to say. I was thinking more of the town rather than the event. Yes, you're completely right about the type of event.

The latest report I saw stated fifteen down, four dead, including the shooter. The major outlets seem determined to air eyewitness accounts rather than known facts.

I do not attend any event/festival where I cannot be armed to protect myself and my family.
Sure limits the number of places I can go which is OK for me as I just abhor crowds.
I do pray for the victims and hope the shooters rot in hell.

Right there with you on events I do or do not attend.

A total ban of firearms in the state would not prevent a determined maniac from attempting mass mayhem. No law will ever stop the determined criminal. No security force will ever be 100% effective at stopping a mass shooting. In the Navy Yard (GFZ) shooting, one of the first victims was an armed security officer. More laws only impact the already law abiding, non-criminaly inclined citizen and in some cases leave our most vulnerable at the mercy of killers.

Here's something I saw on Facebook. Seems the more you restrict the more crime you have. Of course you have to consider which Party is in control too, and CA is ruled by that Party.

The agenda of criminals is determined by their intent, not by law. Maybe some day the good people of Kommifornia will recognize exactly who is being targeted here - it's certainly not the criminals.

Personally, I hesitate to cherry-pick examples to support my point of view. Chicago is, as far as I know, shall issue now. As far as violent crime rates go, it isn't even near the top: https://www.statista.com/statistics/...e-us-by-state/
Only three of the top nine are in may-issue jurisdictions.

Well...Since California has proven that more gun laws don't stop this kinda of thing....They might as well
    ban festivals.

Yes, and they don't go very far in the push for anti-gun legislation and opinion.

So much for metal detectors and security:

"Police Chief Scot Smithee says attendees at Sunday's garlic festival in Gilroy, California, had to go through security checkpoints with metal detectors."

Many on here say anywhere anytime....So based on that...Can someone dig up some stats on the chance
of being in a mass shooting at a large venue VS being alone or out with family and being targeted?

I agree on not attending a event where you are not allowed to be able to protect yourself...But that goes for anywhere and not
    just large venues.

Anyone know how accurate this is? I mean I believe it, but every time I distribute something like this someone comes back and finds the "error".
