Back to the original topic of this thread...violence.

The poor millennials have grown up under a media conspiracy that has been so ANTI-gun, ANTI-self-protection that the media has presented a lopsided and unrealistic picture of the potential dangers posed by evil people. As a consequence, these young folks walk around thinking they are safe from REAL physical danger have have instead focused on their narcissistic feelings.

Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.

I have told a young person at the LGS that a full signature is required on the form 4473. He asked if it included his middle name. He had to check his driver's license to spell his middle name and then he printed his name because he was not taught cursive.

There may be another issue at play here. Before WW2 and during the depression that the war ended, folks had to work hard and not much came easily. They were cautious with the little money they had and repaired things. They had to save up to buy about everything. Then came the prosperity after the war. One car, then two, vacations, summer homes, appliances and beer and liquor commercials to foster the good life and grab all the gusto you can. The baby boomers grew up in this new American Dream and then many of them moved out of the family structure to pursue their dreams. I think so many boomers along with their celebrating parents singing along with Sinatra, doing it my way, started this ball rolling by giving their kids everything and fostered this la la, care free attitude that has been growing like a cancer.

The progressives/socialists/communists would never have grown as large and influential as they are if the scenario described above did not happen or if it at least happened on a much smaller scale than it did. Most Americans have become "drunk" on the level of prosperity that they have so the "rugged individualism" and patriotism that previous generations of Americans were known for is slowly becoming extinct and then when that's gone, what happens after that is anyone's guess but I am sure its not going to be good.

I don't think a false sense of security is a mellinial thing. This is a psychological phenomenon that is well documented. We often refer to it as the "sheeple" effect.

I see this too with a lot of the millenials. Lots of them have no grip on how to handle situations, even small ones. They will fall apart the moment any intense situation happens. Its expected that everyone else go out of their way to make them safe instead of making themselves individually safe.

This same millenial generation and the next one are spreading the idea that anyone with a gun even for self defense is an automatic bad guy and that guns will make anyone who holds them "bad".

My grandfather who was a German immigrant sharecropper with a 4th grade education earned (2) purple hearts in France during WW-I before he got his US Citizenship! After WW-I he went to work for General Motors and retired as the Assistant Plant Superintendent of a Fisher Body Plant after 42 years. I wonder how many of the current crop of immigrants would/could go that route?

The so called greatest generation did a fine job waging war but they sucked at raising children.

A similar event took place in 1990 at the University of Florida. Danny Rolling used a knife and raped and killed 5 students. They also believed they were safe. History seems to have repeated itself.
