OP, I'm also a resident of Lehigh County. They typically mail the permits usually within 2 weeks or so. I don't recall any of my carry colleagues getting the permit at the time they file the application. If you can, go on Monday morning, the courthouse is fairly quiet at that time. Good luck.

You need phone numbers to accompany those references.

For the references, what is acceptable to put? Can they be family, or do they need to be out of family. Or doesn't it matter much.

It sounds like you will be applying for a non-resident permit. If you have a MD permit it should be same day while you wait in Center county as I recall.

At this point, if reciprocity passes it's likely you won't need a PA permit in six months. some states will contest it, but I doubt PA will.

Well I'm ready to get my permit, but I've run into an issue.

The sheriffs office is only open until 3:55pm and only during the week.

I work Monday-friday 7-5 so I obviously can't get down there when there open.

Does anyone know if they will work with me on that? I've been in contact with them but so far no response on the hours thing.

Or am I sol for now?

My sheriff's office is located in the courthouse, so there is no way they operate outside their hours.
My guess is you will just have to take some time off of work, like going to the doctor or whatever. The plus side is they will mail it to you, so you won't have to go back in for another three years.

ETA: I guess it's FIVE years
    Nice.

I must have been thinking of my C&R license. That's three years. I'm pretty sure, lol.

You are welcome. I found out about the five year thing when we changed sheriff's during an election cycle and I did not get my renewal notification. The LTCF came up in a conversation with friends and I pulled mine out of my wallet and lo and behold it was expired. Luckily I was under the grace period and did not break any laws by carrying concealed.
