    Ammunition laws for each state

Out of curiosity I decided to research what states other than NJ have a ban on HP ammo. The answers is none other than NJ assuming that the reference guide I found is accurate. It is published by the National Sports Shooting Association. It is very complete covering all types of ammo. It can be read or downloaded here.

Unfortunately the document you linked to is from 2010. Laws change and are fairly dynamic with regards to weapons these days so I would not trust a document that old to be accurate.

San fran bans Black talon ammo but I think that is that

For the most part HP/SP etc ammo for handguns is pretty much unreg other then in NJ and that is just on having it with you outside of the home ..Now laws on buying ammo and non HP types that gets messier esp on what is AP ammo ..

AP and other extoic ammo is the one you will find more laws on esp in regards to what is and is not AP ..Bolo round incideray etc rounds also have weird laws

New Jersey doesn't ban the possession, sale, or use of hollow point ammo per se. It only prohibits its use in a carried pistol.

I feel so safe living in a state where it's illegal to import, manufacture, possess, store, transport, sell, offer to sell, purchase, offer to purchase, deliver or give to another, or acquire any teflon-coated bullets.

Kommifornia is set to implement background checks, etc, this July before one can even buy ammunition. Of course, there are fees involved.

Good point. So I did more snooping to see if I could find a more current listing. I could not. I then did a variety of searches to see if I could find other states than ban or limit the possession it transport of hp ammo. I could not, but that is far from definitive. I did find some articles that stated NJ was the only state with limitation laws. One article I read gave the best advice and it is worth noting. If you are traveling to a state and do not know it’s law you should contact that state’s attorney general office and ask if there is any prohibition of HP in that state. Be sure to get the name of the person replying to you and note the date and time if a phone call. Good advice.

The drug gangs and illegal aliens will (cough, cough) of course, comply.

Not so good if one is merely traveling through New Germany and gets pulled over by the local Gestapo. I'm legal in my state, but cross the border into NJ, and I'm a criminal.

Which basically no one can do in New Jersey anyway so it really only effects like seven people.
