It seems to me if buy most any one of those and it will do a good enough job to insure you a chance of going home.

Just my opinion, but I would disagree with this. The XTP may not have the most expansion, but it is a consistently accurate round in all calibers in all my guns. I like that.

Yup, and surprisingly enough Sierra call's them V-Crown. I reload their 125s in 357SIG.

CD gets similar penetration results to HST and Gold Dot. It only performs better expanding after passing though auto glass. The glass prevents the two traditional hollow points from expanding.

I use XTP in my .357 and .44 for deer and have never had either of them fail to kill with one shot. I've never been able to examine the bullet because both will go completely through but the damage done by them shows a good job being done based on the exit wounds.

You are in luck! Here’s a pic of an XTP I found hanging in the offside hide of a deer hit with a 240 weight XTP handload.

Well, for starters, such pictures are used for marketing purposes to prompt the purchase of the product, which, only demonstrates what the bullet will do under perfectly controlled conditions.

    It gives no context.

Ok sure but then everything we buy is a gimmick as everything is marketed at its best.

    Absolutely true Rabbit. Very true.

I also like to believe it’s true that we as consumers are still capable of critical thinking and research.

Are any of the others not accurate? I've only personally shot HST and Gold Dot (from this list) and I've found them to be extremely consistent.

What I'm saying is I don't know that we can disqualify any of these because of accuracy. So we're left with expansion and maintaining mass integrity through various media.

Some 70 or 100 years ago equivalent of that could be posted in school. These days you can get all sorts of trouble for doing the same...
