Federal 124gr standard pressure HST is my preference. Just keeps performing to spec in nearly all the online tests. Gold Dots are also highly rated but the HSTs were the most consistent in penetration and expansion.

I use the Federal HST because I have be able to get good deals on 50 round boxes of the ammo. My preference is the 124 grain loading in either standard or +P. I have nothing against the Gold Dots and currently use them in .38 Special 135 grain +P Short Barrel loading for my J frames and have also used them in .40 S&W and .45 ACP in the past.

I choose Federal HST because my department issued them and I have seen them work. Not that there are not any number of excellent defensive rounds available, just me.

    I use them in .38 Special, 9mm, 40 S&W, and .45 ACP

I really like Speer Gold Dot in my revolvers.

For semi autos - I like Remington Ultimate Home Defense ammo (basically Golden Sabers).

Due to their more rounded nose shape they really cycle nicely.

The reality is with 9mm it's really hard to get something bad.

I have my preferences, being the cheap tightwad I am, but if I found a good deal on either Gold Dots or HST's I'd carry either one.

Those are my top 2 choices for 9mm. Between the 2, I don't have a preference, they should both do the job just fine.

I use gold dot +p 124 grain in my 9mm Glocks because I know they can handle a steady diet of +p. For every other caliber of semi auto that I have I use HSTs.

I have a bunch of gold dots so thatís what I use. If I had HSTs i would use those either is a good solid street performer with long lists of happy users. I do prefer the 124+p or the 115+p+ if I was going heavy Iíd probably go the 147+p from HST.

Corbon DPX although a bit pricey. You can't go wrong with either Gold Dots or HST's
