From reviews I've read, some tiny 9's are no fun at all, though some handle felt recoil better than others, so it seems. How small do you go before smaller is not much fun?

I actually don't mind shooting my Keltec pf9. I think it is a fun little gun. I do make sure I wear safety glasses. If I shoot it a lot without safety glasses my eyes burn afterwords. With a firm grip the recoil doesn't bother me.

Shield. Smallest I've shot, felt great in my hands, loved how it shot, thus, I bought one. In fact I'll be having a blast with it tomorrow at the range!

Absolutely! I just shot mine today for the first time and it is the greatest little nine that I have shot.
My sister has a PF9, and I was really close to buying one several times. I really had no problem with it and liked shooting it a lot. I just never got around to picking one up for myself.
Then I heard about the SCCY CPX-2. Been waiting almost a year to get one. Wow! What a great shooter! I only have 150 rounds through it as of yet, but no problems at all and I find it to be very accurate and easy to shoot well.
$260 OTD.

Kahr PM9, hands down. Easily the most comfortable mouse gun I have ever shot. There's something perfect (given the size/shape of my shooting hand) that just seems to match the PM9's back strap shape, width and recoil characteristics. Even with the hottest 9mm loads, it's pretty darned accurate as well.

Only downside, the ones I had never were reliable. Sold them. Sadly, too, 'cause IMO it's still the finest format on the market in that category (9mm mousegun that's got "big gun" characteristics of shootability, accuracy).

Smallest 9mm I enjoy shooting is my Beretta Nano. It's an amazing little gun.

Kahr CM-9: from the beginning, the gun has been 100% reliable with several brands and types of ammo. bullets impact right where the sights look (for me). recoil has not been a problem. i have smallish hands, so i can get most of my little finger on the grip, even with the shorter magazines.

only dislike: only two out of five magazines will drop free when i hit the mag release button. the others come partway out and stick, and i have to grab them and pull them out the rest of the way.

My Kimber Solo is much more comfortable to shoot than my S&W 442.

The Solo really is a great shooting pistol for it's size. It's accuracy and "shootability" (is that a word?) has surprised everyone that has sent lead downrange with it.

Of course the Solo is not as punishing as the 442 in part because it is heavier, but that is also why the S&W usually ends up in my pocket.
