Smolck - My experience with three different IDPA clubs and two different USPSA clubs is that the members are open to discussion and are generally friendly and helpful if you ask for advice. Once you get used to it, there's no better civilian training in my opinion and by shooting your carry gun, you are developing muscle memory and motor skills that will (hopefully) serve you well in a violent encounter. Give it a try and and don't hesitate to get into conversations with your fellow shooters. At my age and skill level, it's less about the competition as it is having a good time and building my skill sets.

I own seven of Gaston's gun in three different caliber, Gen 3 and 4. The only empties I've caught in the face have come off the padded lane dividers at an indoor range. It's never happened anywhere else.

I only wish I could shoot the 19 that well.
I'm good with the 17 and 26, but the hump on the 19 just doesn't seem to work with my grip.
    Good for you OP!

I almost got lured away this weekend to a Springfield Champion Operator which a guy wanted to trade me. And before you all say I'm dumb because of the price difference, my Glock has HD sights, and he wanted my 700 practice rounds, crossbreed, red eye and 2 other holsters and 5 Glock mags to make it even. I thought better of it, simply because I can close my eyes and shoot ragged holes with the 19. My 19 is with me more than my wife, it is a part of me. And it carries 16 rounds in a 10oz lighter and shorter gripped platform than the springer. Nuff said. (Still want the Springer though, I have a sickness)

Anyways, that wasn't my point. My point is today I ran another couple hundred rounds through the 19, and man if I can't shoot the crap out of that gun. Head shots at 25 yards, no problem. Super fast mag dumps, no problem, I keep em all in the "0" of an IDPA target out to 10 yards at break neck speed. And this Glock has now shot a total of 750 steel cased monarch rounds with only one failure to fire due to a hard primer. And has never had a malfunction with anything brass. The only drawback is I get bored at the range. It is so monotonous with the Glock. I need some training or a private outdoor range to really start having some fun.

Anyways, just wanted to tout the ever popular, ever hated (by some) Glock 19. There are guns that do specific things better, but none that are as versatile and capable in almost ANY role as the 19. Love it.
What are your splits at break neck speed?

Shot 100 rounds of Tula today. No problems here. Wife had one BTF, but I'd attribute it to limp wristing or maybe a low hold.

I Love my 19. Started out on the SA platform, but decided to dabble into the "dark side". Now to figure which gun is going to sit in between my xds and 19.

Since you like the 19, that sounds like the perfect spot for a G26...

"surprisingly" enough, after shooting my wife's xds yesterday, the bullet groupings would say the same thing ... Lol.

On a serious note though. My priorities have changed over the year or so that I've started carrying.
