Trying to figure out where my 3" Model 37 fits.

Kind of an odd duck. A 2 inch version fits a pocket much better. And if you are going IWB, you might as well go for a steel gun.

    Anyone carry one of these?

I'd like to, that thing's beautiful. Looks like a comfy all-day packer.

I guess you could say "might as well carry a steel gun" but then, if you're carrying a 22-oz revolver, you might as well carry a single-stack auto. And if you're carrying a single-stack auto, you might as well carry a double-stack subcompact, and then you might as well carry a compact, so we end up right back at Glock 19.

I can't remember the last time a actually saw a m-37 in the wild. I'd guess it would work equally well, either inside or outside the waistband.

Nice S&W! I rather LIKE the balance of a 3" barreled DA/SA revolver. IWB would be a small, insignificant compromise IMHO.
    I don't have an M37, but I'd carry one in an eye-blink.

I don't have a square butt 3" 37, but do have a nice square butt 3" 31 with 6 shots of .32 long. I too need a good holster for it.

On J frames, I like square butt guns better than round.

The stock square butts fit my small/medium sized hands well.

Now THAT revolver, if it were mine, would be a prime candidate for a round-butt trim-job and having my gunsmith extend those chambers to .327 Fed mag* (IF it were both stout & long enough).

    *Collector valve...be damned.

Gotta agree, it's a beautiful gun and if I had one I'd be a proud papa. I also agree with you on 3 inch revolvers. Sure, the 2 inch is a better pocket gun, but IWB a 3 inch is no problem whatsoever. Better balance, better velocity, it's just a great weapon to have.

Close: 3" #36, 3" #60 carried in an original Roy Baker Pancake holster, or Ken Null Undercover Special. The 3" barrel revolvers are the perfect compromise length for CC - long enough to shoot well, short enough to conceal well OWB and IWB.

This is IMO an almost perfect J frame revolver. I owned two, gave one to a relative for an off duty gun, kept one and carried it in plain clothes until it was stolen in a burglary. Currently my wife carries a one as her EDC...

The all steel version was the female officers service revolver in the early 70's. And when they were policewomen they carried them in a uniform purse that had a built in regulation holster.

I love my custom 3" SP-101 in .357mag. It as one of my primary carry guns in the winter months.

Nice Ruger gglass! I picked the 3 1/16" SP101 for preCISELY the same reason. 3" revolvers...ROCK!
