to the OP you can't go wrong with S&W MP Shields.
I'm sure it varies from place to place. Around here the basic Airweights usually have a tag price ~$400, so buying used, on sale or with rebates, $350 is realistic (I paid $375 used for my 38-3, which is a bit less common than some, and came with wood stocks).

MSRP on these is only $469, so charging over $500 for one seems like a bit of a rip-off.

I mean I probably would on my own anyways, but theirs are a little extreme. That's why I love my wheel guns/glocks. I feel like I can pull em out of the box and stick em in a holster and go! But other than that, Kahr is a hard one to beat!

I was able to get one for $200 after the rebate. I got to it on the last day of the rebate and couldn’t pass it up.

I'm going to have to do some shopping in Minnesota and send it to my FFL or LGS. LOL here non locks S&W command supper high prices, and don't even ask about a Colt Python, unless one is willing to get a second mortgage on the house.

Shield in 40. This one was a little over 350, but not much.

Smith & Wesson M&P Shield. They are easily had for real cheap right now. $289 at the last gun show I was at.

The Ruger LCP at it's current pricing (189-209.00) is an absolute steal.

There's a number of places that have the 642 for under $350.
