    Thanks OV.
I think the Glock is "okay" but I'm glad the US military chose the SIG.

The M17 has had issues with broken triggers, likely because Sig made them so light and flimsy in an attempt to address the guns firing spontaneously when dropped on their back side. The light trigger material has less mass, thus less inertia, thus less likely to cause the trigger to fire when dropped. Unfortunately, they are breaking.

There are also reports of mags spitting out rounds while the pistol is firing.

The Army awarded the contract before their own testing protocols were completed. This whole thing stinks.

The G19 is a well proven design. The P320/M17 has suffered through several issues. The low cost may end up biting Sig in the hind quarters, and as usual, our service people will suffer.

There is a very detailed video on You Tube about this whole fiasco, will try to find it later.

Carry a sidearm always. Be able to put shots into the torso and then head, if needed. The rest is much less important.

The modularity is overblown. The military versions have a mechanism to prevent unit armorers from swapping the parts. If youíre issued a pistol, you get what you get.

Perhaps at the depot level, things can get swapped...but not in your average Army unit.

The 2019 Marines Corps Association & Foundation calendar just arrived, the cover maybe of interest. With that said the April 2019 page " A Force Reconnaissance Marine with the Maritime Raid Force, 31 Marine Expeditionary Unit, clears a ledge before climbing over in Guam, Feb 1 2018, during Visit, Board, and Search training" the weapon shown is a 1911 series pistol with mounted light.

Apparently not all 1911 Colt Mfg. series pistols have been gotten rid of and the Glock G19 pistols will be apparently kept also to supplement the new SIG pistol.

The 1911 is an antiquated weapons system but then again, so am I.

Not if you have any knowledge whatsoever on the pistols being discussed.

I'm so glad he too sounds like he likes the US military SIG as well. You're well respected around here OV, so, knowing you're happy for me makes me feel good. Thank You, Sir!

    Question

I still haven't figured out which model I want; FS, or compact. And, if I should get the 9mm with the .357 SIG conversion kit........

LOL!!! I liked mine just fine until it blew up in my face. The P320 needs more time before it sees front line service with people's lives at stake.

Sig and Kohen need to stop all these build it as cheaply as possible plans before Sig has no positive reputation left.

I am sticking with my 1911s in .45 ACP or 10mm for EDC and my Glock G35 in .40 S&W or G40 in 10mm for more capacity until something better comes along. I am happy.
