    sig 228

I’ve been holding out for a deal on a 225 of some flavor but I found this instead.

By chance I stopped at a little bait shop/gun shop just across the state line since it had been a couple years.

There in the case was this 228. No box, origonal 2 mags, nearly new condition. One minor (very tiny) nick in the trigger gaurd, and another opposite the mag release.
It has been fired, but next to no smiles on the barrel. I have put more evidence on new guns in a 200 round first range trip.

$599...I actually left it there and made all the way home before I turned around and went back to buy it.

I wanted another two tone, but I just don’t see 228s in any condition around here.

The DA is stiff as can be and clearly needs the trigger pulled a bunch. I need to get to my “Safe Space” and make more 9mm ammo!

I will shoot this one a lot and carry it some. Now to find some nice wood grips that I like.

This is the one I should have bought in 1990.
And it’s a Herndon VA, just before they moved to NH.

I had been looking for a used Sig 229. First one I saw, $550. Second, $485. Third, $399, 2 mags (unfortunately, 10 rounds) but I grabbed. So far, 200 rounds without a hiccup. Very happy with it.

    Very nice!

Somebody explain to me again how the G19 is supposedly so superior to this gun?

Loaded it is almost 3 oz lighter than my 229 and has none of the top heavy feel. Shoots really well. I put a couple hundred through it last Saturday, 124 Berry’s and some 115 XTP that were on the zippy side, all good.

My CZ didn’t like to group well with the 115 XTP, but this Sig sure does. I have been slacking on my production so this weekend will be dedicated to ammo production.

Very nice! The one I have has been flawless. I have some Hogue grips on mine, but they are not wood.

Congratulations, glad you gave it a good home. I love my 228 doesn’t see much carry time now. For magazines CdNN has them on sale quite a bit unmarked. They are packed as OE magazines they are in fact MecGar and are factory standard. For wood grips I believe Hogue offers some different options I would also recommend taking a gander at the G10s. I’ve always preferred the factory myself. A touch of oil and a good cleaning the trigger will improve tremendously most were never cleaned well and just set with factory oil which gets a bit gummy.

Nice score on the 228. I don't own any Sigs but that would be on the top of the list if I were to get one.

Good find. Work on that trigger a bit and find some grips you like. I prefer G10s, but I like a aggressive grip. WiFi would look good.

Raven and Huski, I have the Hogue checker G10s on my 229 357Sig and 220, the more aggressive the better.

The 228 9mm only goes “Pew Pew Pew,” instead of, “Boom boom boom,” so I won’t need as much gription and can getaway with nicer looking wood.
