That would seriously ventilate a bad guy, mighty fine shooting.

That is a fine rework, and fine shooting! I love my XSE!

Tell me about your rework! What did you do? Curious minds want to know.

    Very nicely done!

What did you do to the pistol, and are those #68 Hensley & Gibbs?

Very nice. For years I've had it in the back of my head that I'll have an XSE Commander someday.

Near as I can tell, Colt is no longer making the XSE in stainless. Got I got one while I could, but I'll never shoot it as well as the OP and his "tweaked" XSE.

I had a stainless XSE, but my geezerhood got the better of me. I just have a strong preference for blued 1911s with wooden grips. Gave the XSE to my son a few years back. He was happy to get it.

I had guidance from a qualified individual and access to a machine shop. (Reference my father was a machinist for an optical company which also did work for Unertl Optical Co.) I would in my younger days work there in the machine shop on the weekends. That was a long-long time ago. With the help of my associate the qualified individual instructions; we fitted a BarSto barrel, for constant lockup – barrel side play – fitted bushing and addressed frame/slide play. Without guidance I would not have been able to do it.

I new a little bit and learned a lot. The photograph is several years old. I was cleaning up my photo files and came across it thought it was worthy of forum subject.

I had an XSE. The only thing I didn’t like about it was the sights were not real Novak’s, and nether are the cuts in the slide. I think they used an imitation Chinese made sight or something.

The original sights on my XSE were Colt standard that predate quasi Novak configuration you eluded to. My slide has the Novak sight cut (the tool was not Cheap) thus actual Novak sights. The original Novak sight set up was the 3-Dot White, I recently changed out the sight setup to plain black rear and front night sight.
