My same two carries, just both at once thanks to flannel shirt and jacket.

My main winter carries are my Mod 2 subcompacts in either 9mm or .45acp. Love these guns. I also include Shields in 9 and 45. When a second carry is needed, my 642 snubbie is always available.

LCR in the pocket all year round. But when it cools down enough for more cover garments I carry my Rossi M720 44 SPL in a vintage Bianchi Scorpio shoulder holster.

Not my gun pictured but that's a lot better than I can do with my camera.

    Same as my summer carry.

    And spring carry.

And fall carry, for that matter.

I even use the same bullets...I figure if it's effective on someone dressed for MN winters, itís gonna do just finevon someone in lighter clothing.

Using the proper belt, a good holster and something accessible is what are important.

I practice shooting with either hand regularly, as well as practice dry firing. My carry guns have a 25 yard standard for me. If I cannot shoot out to there, I donít carry it.

My primary has been a S&W 640 357 Magnum 5 Shot in a Desantis Holster. The draw is faster out of a pocket. Out to 7 yards, Iím able to hit from the hip. Pointing, Iím good out to 10 yards.

However, I donít carry a spare set of ammunition for reloads. I carry a spare pair of guns.

    Sig P226
    One gun - 18 rounds

On this topic, last weekend at an early Thanksgiving dinner, I was chatting with my cousin, who is retired from one of the Federal security agencies. During our conversation he revealed that when we attended a parade back in late summer, he was carrying his P226. I asked, "A FULL sized Sig under that light weight summer clothing?", and he confirmed.
I never noticed anything about his profile that day that would have suggested he was carrying, especially a 226.

He said that's the only pistol he's ever carried on his hip and he's had it since it was issued to him in the 80's. When he retired he had the option to purchase his Sig and did so. And that the old 226 has had thousands of rounds fired in training and range time and has never failed in any way.

I guess I'm confused. Do your summer guns get chilled on a cold winter day?

Most of the winter a Glock 30S...otherwise generally a 43 or 43x (can't wait to get my Shield Arms S15 mags to test them out on my 43X and 48). If they do well my main summer carry (and occasional winter carry) will probably be the 43X with a 15 round mag.
