Woe Is Me -- Wiley Clapp

I was browsing in the LGS today while my wife was shopping elsewhere. Nothing special to see -- I've looked around in there plenty. As usual, I looked at the Sigs, Glocks, a Walther, some Springfields, Rugers -- meh. I'm good with my Shield. Over in the corner of the far case something caught my eye. Oh my. Looked harder at this thing behind the glass. Oh my, oh my. It's a Wiley Clapp Government 1911. I walked away, but can't get it off my mind. What a piece! This is exactly what it looks like...

I need help. You guys MUST tell me not to go look at it again! I'm counting on you.....

The Wiley Clapp Colts are great guns, ready to go right out of the box. I have a WC LW Commander that I used for a custom build.

That had to take superior self control to just walk away.

It's heavy, low capacity, old design, multiple weird safties, and rather plain.

Now, when you bring it home we need to see photos from all angles.

Ok, I’ll help...those engraved “fingers” look about as bad as the “Grip Zone” that Springfield is rightly panned for.

    “Put fingers here!” No kidding...

Carry a sidearm always. Be able to put shots into the torso and then head, if needed. The rest is much less important.

The first time I saw a Wiley Clapp Colt government model 1911, I bought it. It is one of my carry guns.

Builds character. Some say, makes you a character. Either way, you get something more by carrying a "real" 1911.

It's calling you because you're the rightful owner!

How could you let someone else buy your gun?
