If it is ever your misfortune to be attacked, alertness will have given you a little warning, decisiveness will have given you a proper course to pursue, and if that course is to counterattack, carry it out with everything you've got! Be indignant. Be angry. Be aggressive.

I carry a Browning Hi Power or a 4" S&W Model 29 in a OWB pancake all the time. I wear untucked button shirts, and have had no issues.

I started out in my life of carrying with a OWB, and have pretty much always been that way. For most part I carried a 5 inch 1911 always high and tight, and never had a problem with a cover shirt. The last 12 years as a part time LEO, so now I carry pretty much all the time and everywhere. (I recommend, always carry, everywhere you are allowed.) Off duty always with cover shirt or jacket, is the preferred dress with most local agencies. Now most of the time I carry a 4.25 inch 1911 or Glock 23. Any good holster and carry high and tight and you will not have a problem.

Does anyone have any experience with 1791 Gunleather holsters? They look to be good quality but I'm concerned that they are "multi-fit" holsters. I also like the Don Hume 721 open top if anyone has experience with those.

The “721” holster is my favorite with a G23 sized gun. I also like (surprisingly) the Glock Sport Holster! I can’t afford high end stuff but these two are excellent.

A good pancake holster is hard to beat in terms of performance and comfort. With a decent belt most will conceal reasonably. Its a great way to start OWB carry.

Take a look at the Winthrop Holster line. They make some good stuff at an affordable price point.

I keep my shirts in the normal sizes. I just have my holster riding high and tight and have never really had any issues.

I’ve found that a Kydex holster keeps the gun closer to me than leather pancake holsters.

    Stay away from "multi-fit" holsters.
Why? Because "one size fits nothing."

    Would you buy "multi-fit" shoes?

YES, on the glock sport holster one of the great un-sung holsters of all time. Cheap and carries great, best with the G19-G23 or smaller size glocks. I have not seen a holster the carries better at any price. That is my standard tractor/work/knock about carry.
