Was that 50% a verified hair count, by volume, or just a guess?

A woman was going down a check list with me. When it came to hair color, she wrote down "bald".

Yup. Everyone pulls a shot now and then. I can't find myself in any of those categories, or combinations thereof. On the other hand, I do know folks who fit those categories, so . . .
So who is this Will that everybody fires at, what did he do, and how come he's not dead yet??

This is the danger of trying to put people into behavior boxes. Viewing the world through the prism of one's own eyes usually doesn't reflect the reality that people are much more complex than we give most credit for. As for the the "three types", I would argue I am none of the three as described. Gross generalizations are almost always wrong. (See what I did there?)

Not only do I not fit in any of those 3 categories... They are not even close.

The only similarity between myself and the people described is... gun ownership.

Don't know about the quote, but I just noticed and like your quote by William Aprill "Stop being dangerous and you become edible". Luv it.
The wife always says, "they can't kill me and eat me" I respond actually they can, just don't let them!

    As for the OP:
I can't afford to be a collector so #1 is out.
I don't like doing anything without a purpose I rarely plink or blast away with no purpose, so #2 is out.
I'm not really concerned about the SHTF type stuff, but I'm a competition junkie and don't want to be caught short in life (if ya get my drift) so it's #3 for me!
My only concern is what will be my purpose in 20 years when I'm an octegenarian?

Categories kinda irk me because almost no one cleanly fits into one.

    E.g., me:

    1. I collect prewar S&W revolvers but...
    2. I shoot what I own- some more, some less and not always 22lr's and...
    3. I train with what I carry so I'm not running around a training range with a 1908 Triple Lock, although it's scary accurate.

    So, "meh".

I think what we have here is a Joe Tex moment: SOMEBODY gotta take the woman with the skinny legs!!!

When somebody likes a gun I don't like...more of what I DO like out here for ME.
