Anybody have any experience with Valor Ridge?

Been thinking about taking a class or two down there, since itís not but a few hours drive from here.

Trying to get @matthew03 to join me if I can get him away from Rob Tacketts classes for a while.

Anyone have any experience with them or heard feedback from others? From what I can see, it looks like good, fundamental training.

I can live with them. I donít modify any of my guns anyway, and the rest of the equipment requirements are things I already use.

Was there any particular thing/s you did not agree with?

I'd hate to show up with my AR with a new barrel because the OEM tube was shot out and them say go home and no refund. If I have a problem with my gun, then I have the problem, not them. I'm more "Teach me how, don't tell what I have to use." I'm sure there are many home builts that are much better than some of the "OEM" models produced.

I make some changes to my liking...I could do without them for a class but...it's the preaching attitude that comes through as you read their explanation that rubs me wrong.

Well, I think after hearing from a member who has attended and from others, it would seem that this is a premier school with sound doctrine and training that has proven itself in the real world.

Someone referred to it as the TR or Gunsite of the East.

I think considering the reputation, sound tactical doctrine and good fundamental teaching, when compared to other similar schools the price isnít really that bad.

Probably more expensive because they take extra time to teach you to use the sights.

I think I read there is bunk housing on site, so that keep travel expense and $$$ for lodging down. May be part of the class cost included.

Still doing research and trying to work it into work schedule. I did notice he's filling those classes fast, most only have a few openings.

I have only heard good things.

I don't train to fight some street urchin, I train to fight the evil version of myself, and that person scares me, because I know the time I put into my training on how to beat him.

You can't go wrong with Pat Goodale of Practical Firearms Training near Alderson WV, nor can you go wrong with Reid of Valor Ridge. Both were Marines- Pat is a retired 0277 Weapons and Tactics Instructor/Intel Officer.
