Yup, I started with the M16A1, then got the A2. Hated cleaning them, especially after running a field training exercise with MILES laser gear, firing blanks. The direct gas system made the rifles filthy inside, and contributed to malfunctions that sapped your confidence in it.

To this day, have no desire for an AR, despite it being my service rifle.

Nice video, and glad itís working for you.

Carry a sidearm always. Be able to put shots into the torso and then head, if needed. The rest is much less important.

I'm curious @hrfunk , is the stock on your rifle the same length as a collapsible stock when it's fully extended?

Good video BTW, and a very nice looking rifle too.

I always hated cleaning them after firing blanks too. What a mess!

I'm not sure, I'll have to measure it and let you know.

Believe it or not, at full extension, the collapsable stock is about 3/8" longer.

It's interesting that the collapsible stock is longer. I always liked the look of an AR with a solid stock, rather than with the collapsible types. And, I was hoping the length of pull would be a bit longer than with a collapsible. If it was, I was thinking about getting a solid stock for my AR.

Thank you for checking on that hrfunk. Much appreciated sir.

The A2 stocks are longer than the A1 stocks by about 3/4 of an inch. So they would be longer than the collapsable stock too. If you're thinking of putting one on an M-4 style carbine, you will also have to replace the receiver extension tube, buffer and buffer spring. Just FYI.
