Yeah the M1 is an ol' softie on the shoulder.

Over and above its very rich historical association, the M1 is relevant to me because mine is very accurate for not being a special National Match or custom accuracy job, It's well-mannered, always reliable. Easy to maintain. Apparently is durable as I've shot it extensively in high-power matches since 1987, especially between 1987 and 2010. Offers a surprisingly rapid rate of aimed fire. Shoots my personally most admired center fire rifle cartridge, the .30-06.

    They've changed the rules.

You may purchase up to eight rifles per year.

Per the newly completed and signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the U.S. Army and the Civilian Marksmanship Program, M1 Garands will be limited to eight per calendar year, per customer. The CMP considers any item containing an M1 Garand receiver with a serial number to be an M1 Garand and will deduct from the eight M1 Garand rifle limit per year.
