Lightbulb I get this question a LOT!

My students ask me these questions ALL the time...

Q: IF you could ONLY have 1 handgun what would it be?

A: A Gen 3 Glock 19 with plenty of Spare OEM Parts!

    Q: Why Glock?

A: No Switches, No Glitches, No Bitches & No problem getting OEM replacement Parts!*

    * Just try getting OEM spare parts for an M&P or a Springfield XD!

*I have piles of spare oem M&P parts, all provided by S&W by simply picking up the phone. Not sure where you're trying to get them from.

To answer the OP's question: When I did not have a a couple handguns safes loaded to the hilt and could only afford one gun, it was a S&W 915. It was everything I needed and nothing I didn't. If I was in the same boat today with what's on the market, I would choose a S&W M&P M2.0 Compact 4" for the same reasons. Best bang for your buck on a multi-purpose handgun.

S&W: I few years back I had a student here for a 5-Day Class. He was cleaning his M&P gun on the range and lost a very small part. S&W would NOT sell ME the part, despite me telling them it was his EDC GUN and they said it had to be returned to them.

I also could NOT buy OEM REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR S&W REVOS!!!

SA: I had a Springfield XD 9MM (which I REALLY LOVED) but the extractor BROKE at 2,200 rounds!!!

Sprinfield Armory WOULD NOT SELL ME the REPLACEMENT PART!!

I HAD TO SEND THE GUN BACK TO THEM VIS UPS OVERNIGHT RED LABLE (COST ME $90 TO SHIP).

I got the gun back and they said they fixed the problem.

Well, at 2,400 rounds later, THE NEW EXTRACTOR BROKE!!! THAT COST ME ANOTHER $90 TO SHIP IT BACK!!!

BOTTOM LINE: I WILL NOT OWN A CARRY GUN that I CAN'T BUY OEM SPARE PARTS FOR. But hey, that's just me...

Maybe you need to work on your people skills or something. Perhaps less all-caps, angry emojis, and exclamations would help. I call S&W for parts routinely and have for decades now, never had any issues getting them. I have even called in just to ask for a spare and had some success.

Of course maybe the difference is I own the gun versus calling for a friend.

All these people saying they would go with a $1000 gun for "financial reasons"

It would be pretty hard to justify spending over $500 on a handgun if you could only afford 1.
You can find find many single stack carry pistols for around the $250 mark or less, Ruger EC9, KEL TEC P-11, SCCY CPX-2, S&W Shield 9mm.
You can get a SD9VE with 16rds for less then $250. If you are someone that has a very weak grip there is the S&W 380 EZ for around $350.
If you can afford spending $100-200 more than that get a glock because they are easier and cheaper to get parts and accessories for.

I dont even own a glock or any of the guns i just listed, but i have shot them all, and i would go with the glock or a any one of the single stacks that fit best in my hand if i was going to be carrying it everywhere every day.

I mentioned that I'd go with my HK P30 if I had to just choose one but, I've recently felt like outside of the HK 45c that I'd also choose my HK USP Compact 9mm. It's a 13 rder. It's a tad bit smaller than the P30 with 2 less rds and a little larger than the VP9sk with 3 more rds. Kinda in the middle of those two pieces. Very concealable and definitely durable like a tank. I told Jack Bauer to give it a try and he loves it!

Well, because he loved my recommendation on that HK USP Compact 9mm, I'm in his inner circle my brother. He tried to add me in an episode of 24 to make a special guest appearance with one of my HK's but I had a prior engagement. I'll tell him you tried to call him.
