Thanks, Brutha Mil ! :headbang:
Whatchu talkin bout Willis? That's just crazy talk.
Guns are like beards. None are perfect, and some are better than others.
IF I had to choose, it would be a Steyr L9-A1 fitted with night sights. It has good capacity, shoots accurately, fits me perfectly (grip angle), easy disassembly, and isn't too expensive. Down side is limited range of holster options.
I keep my stuff tight! :vs_cool:
Ok, I changed my mind again.
Today it would be a Colt 1911.
If I see this thread tomorrow it may change again:)
And if I could have only one? I am a guy that never stops questing in most things in my life. At the moment, I suspect it would probably be the P365 with manual safety. It's "enough" in basically every category (size, weight, capacity, shooting feel)
Glock 19 for sure
It would be a difficult choice for me, since my tastes are varied, but I'd have to give the nod to the Glock 19x, even over my Colt Defender or any of the others I have.
The 19X comes with 3 magazines, a 17 rd, and two 19 rd mags, (that's 56 rounds of defensive ammo with +1 in the pipe), night sights are standard, it has a 4" match-grade barrel, and conceals ALMOST as easily as the Defender, and my wife is more comfortable shooting it than the Colt. Plus, it's a Glock. It eats anything and I can bury it in the dirt for a couple of years and dig it out, rinse it off, and it'll still go bang each time I pull the trigger.
Reliable, concealable, and a good shooter. And it takes VP9 full size mags.
One gun for financial reasons? That's just silly. Anyone who chose a gun for 5 or 600 dollars could easily buy 2 less expensive guns. If truly for financial reasons the only choices are extremely limited. High Point, Kel-Tec, military/police surplus. The cheapest of the cheap. Otherwise the premise of the question should be a different one. Gun grabbers get in and you're only allowed 1. What would you get if you had x amount to spend. Any way, I'll try to answer for a "moderately" priced gun that I would choose for my one and only.
I first would think that it might be good to have a gun that is easily carried daily. If it were I would pick a Kahr CW380 but I would really want something that might be useful in practically any situation I could imagine needing a gun for. That would make caliber an even more important consideration. Well, I would think that the most versatile rounds that I would be able to carry every day would be .357 or 10MM. I would really love a 4 inch .357 or a 10MM 1911 but if I'm trying to cover all possible uses I think I want a double stack semi-auto for more fire power. A 10MM 2011 is certainly doable but to carry every day I think a lighter pistol would be a better option for me. That leaves me with basically 3 options. Glock, Polymer EAA Witness, or the one that I would choose finally My Grand Power P40. If I needed to spend less it would be the full size polymer Witness.
Well, I still havenít changed my mind( which is unusual).
Colt 1911; Commander or Government Model.
