This thread is still going? Sig P226? Colt 1911's, Colt Pythons and H&K P7?

Somehow this does not feel like it's in the spirit of the thread...if I could afford any of those choices that means I could put together a panoply of well rounded but cheaper choices. Rather than spend the $1000 to...what is a Python going for these days...two grand? Instead I'd take that money and stick it into a single-stack sub-compact 9mm or 380 (the always gun), a .357 Magnum revolver with a 4-6" barrel, throw in a good used pump shotgun (870 or Mossberg 500) and if I have a $100 left over I'd look for a used .22 rifle like a 10/22 or Marlin 60 in a pawn shop.

Maybe a Marlin 60 but forget the 10/22. @airslot bought 'em all up. They are GONE, Baby !

A Nighthawk Predator in 10mm, if I could only have one handgun, but if we're talking about only being able to buy one handgun due to financial reasons than that would no doubt exclude the nighthawk as they go for 4 grand. If I had enough money to afford not a top of the line but a decent handgun and I could only afford one I might go with a Ruger Match Champion in .357 Magnum, a good versatile gun in a good caliber.

Only one huh. Defensive. Something simple, easy to use by myself or my wife

likely I have it with my SS Ruger SP-101 DAK w 2.25" barrel, loaded with 158gr JHPs or lead SWC. As it is, she has a '73 Colt Det Spec. Tough, authorative, and LOUD.

But then, I do like how the Ruger LC9 fits my pocket.

Rifle Choice? Winchester M94 .30-30. or M1 Garand?

I have trouble deciding on supper.

I think it'd have to be the Glock 20, it's very versatile.

I agree. The only choice for me is the venerable 1911.
Thank God I do not have to choose only one .

I used to think it was my Sig 229.

I still think my 229 would be right there.....but, I have two P320s and the ability to change and adapt the thing is pretty wild.

For example: They decided to stop producing the P320 in .357 Sig in the COMPACT model. So, I bought one in the CARRY version and bought the grip module for the shorter COMPACT version and presto chango.......of course I have to buy the mags for the shorter Compact version, but even so. The P320s are nice shooters, with a better trigger than a Glock.

I have one gun, for discreet carry. I have small hands. The perfect fit for me was the Kahr S9

After seeing a series of torture tests (226, 1911, etc), I'd choose the HK USP Tactical in 45.
