One and only one required lots of thought. Every situation I carry in, all the shooting that I do, if I could only have one, it would be the .45 Shield.

After lots of thought,my last one,the only one would be my first one,and that is a Colt Python .357 magnum with 6'' barrel.
    Editing.
This revolver hides as easily as any modern semi auto with all the decoration such as light, aim point etc.....My favorite is cross draw.

    Glock 26 Gen 3.

Big enough to fight with. Small enough to conceal in 99.9% of scenarios. Ability to accept the widest variety of Glock magazines. Holster & sight options are basically unlimited.

I think that a 9mm would be a wise choice only because ammo is abundant being the most widely carried caliber for civilian and police. A Glock or CZ model would be the 2 best options due to magazines being interchangeable between different models in their respected lines which allows for different capacities. There are plenty of companies that make 20 to 30 plus round magazines for each manufacturer.

Just got to thinking about the question more and came to the conclusion that these are two platforms with a great deal of universal accessories within their model lines. CZ-75 magazines fit most of the cz full size models of 9mm hammer fired pistols in the CZ family of pistols.

The same with Glock double stack pistols the 17 mags will fit in any of the Glock 9mm models with a couple exceptions where the magwell design is prohibitive like on the 19X & G45 due to magazine baseplate design.

If only 1 and an all around GTW pistol one of these 2 lines would be a good choice IMO.

If money were a factor and if I were on a budget I would go with the dependability of a revolver. Either a 38 or a 357.
