When I play this particular game in my mind, I consider it from the position of a future legal restriction. I think I would be more likely to go with a 1911. That way I can get a 22lr conversion, and access to a large number of different configurations.

I can't think of many other handguns that are as versatile. Of course, as it stands, I only have one 1911 and it is no longer my service pistol; as such, it sits, unused, in my safe.

That is a tough one. Either a S&W Model 19 4" .357 Magnum or a FNS 9c. Both are great guns for different reasons. But if I had to choose, it would be the FNS 9c. More versatile for my needs. I consider it my "jack of all trades" pistol.

If I could choose only one it would be the Beretta 92 Elite LTT from Langdon Tactical.

The Beretta Model 92 is my favorite pistol. The 92 Elite LTT currently represents the pinnacle of that design.

The gun I would want has not been built. It would be a 380 ACP with a Nambu design modeled on the Ruger Mark IV. It would have a 5 inch barrel and a magazine capacity of twelve rounds, a top rail for an optic and iron sights.

Gen 3 Glock 26 with some extra Glock 19 mags. G29 mags was a typo.

Often over looked , victim of bad press and misguide hate the Beretta 92 is an outstanding full size if that is what you need. One hand gun that is just plain silly.

Yes Taurus really does suck. But in fairness they sure turned it around fast on warranty repair. Time will tell

    Glock 29.

    It disappears on my belt.

    S&B hollowpoints feel like a weak 40.

Underwood hollowpoints feel like Hades unleashed.

I can hit a torso sized target from 50 yards all day.

    I love flexibility!

Unless Smith & Wesson had come out with a Performance Center Pro Series version of the 638, I'd go with that version of their 642.

Financial reasons are not the limitation in my choice.

For me, I'd say the M&P40. Of all the 1911s that I have and love, and all the polymers and others... this one combines the best of them all - high potency, high capacity, excellent accuracy, superb reliability, good versatility, and a good trigger. Small and light enough for EDC, yet large and capable as a full-size pistol can be.

Add to that, superb ergonomics. You can load it down to pu$$y cat target loads, and at the other extreme - if you hand load, 180 gr. XTP with 7.7 gr Longshot - pressure 30870 vs. SAAMI max of 35,000, = 1127 fps / 203 PF. That's a potent "woods load" that has ventured up into 10mm territory.

While not nearly as alluring, charming, and sexy as a 1911 can be, the M&P40 brings numerous other qualities that the 1911 and many other pistols can only be envious of.

“Inequality" is a law of nature, not something government can "re-distribute”. The fit, well-educated, hard-working will prosper. And the unfit will not. It is not the responsibility of those who work hard and prosper to make the lives of those who do not, more “equal."
