Here is a very interesting quandary. According to the ATF, you must identify yourself as either a male or a female, and not one of the 71 other genders people self-identify as these days. I can see the law suits piling up on this one soon, especially in places like California. See the complete article at the link below
However, when it comes to the NICS background check, a male or female identification is required on ATF form 4473. Thereís no non-binary option ďXĒ, and prospective gun buyers may not leave box 6 blank. Thatís because all entries in the NICS database are coded as male or female, and that canít be changed without a system-wide overhaul. So, FFLs may not transfer firearms to individuals who refuse to identify as male or female.
If something is important enough, you will find a way. If it's not, you will find an excuse.
What we have here is a failure to communicate...

When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk.

A 9MM MAY expand to .45 but a 45ACP will never shrink to 9MM.
No problem. Aren't they all anti gun anyway?
Getting old was not on my list of "things to do" in the Golden Years!
Talking to each other here is good, but taking action is better.
I don't have a problem with gender identification. You either have a Y chromosome, or you don't. "Facts don't care about your feelings." The purpose of the Form 4473 has nothing to do with your social presentation, it's about IDENTIFYING you as a human being, rather like dental records. I'm not fond of the law, but it IS the law, so deal with it.

If we just got rid of 4473s and background checks it wouldnít be an issue. Just sayin...
We get the government we deserve.
My wife is signing up for Medicare and supplements this month. For all of those forms, you have to be male or female, period. I used to work with actuaries and I can tell you, they don't give a darn about identity politics as far as their profession goes. They have actuarial tables for males and tables for females. If SJWs force them to go to one table, everyone's insurance is going up.

OH NO! You mean I canít self-identify as an old goat anymore?

OldChap . But you might have to check with the FFA.
Or maybe the FAA, for all I know...

Except that the vast majority of people who would identify as one of those 71 genders are most likely anti-gun Leftist extremists who don't have any immediate plans on buying any firearms and thus won't have to answer any of the ATF's questions.
I'm trying to give a damn.

Obviously the various branches of the US Government are not communicating well with each other. Just a few months ago I received a form from the Veterans Administration, which I was required to complete and submit under penalty of perjury. Included were my full name, my preferred name, my birth sex, my self-identified gender identity, my spouse's birth sex, and spouse's self-identified gender identity.
I'm still having fun with my "preferred name" (kinda like official government permission to adopt a legal name change without bothering to go to the courthouse). Birth sex I had to rely on what Mom and Dad told me, way back when, because I really don't remember much about that day. Wife's self-identified gender identity was difficult; every time I asked her this she just laughed, so I finally filled in that blank "HA HA HA".
At my next VA appointment I intend to self-identify as a strong proud African American woman, then see just how much honky crap I have to put up with to use the ladies' room. Maybe I'll get to meet the genius appointed to head up this important new division within the Veterans Administration!
