I was going to ask how it relates to defensive carry, but I see we have air guns and .22s. Obviously at one time they really were defensive weapons - and I worried when I only had 5 20 round mags going into Tet. Like in the old days when they also carried hawks and knives, I went for a machete I had there which had been more of a tool.

I used to enjoy my TC Hawken as well as a Knight Disc Elite which became my "real" meat gun here in Illinois. I might look in and comment from time to time, but probably wouldn't spend much time there since I don't use them as much anymore. But then, I'm an old guy. A few years ago I would have.

There are already a few muzzle loader forums.
The 2 I frequent are American Long rifles and The Muzzle loading Forum.
The first one is exclusively for American made rifles. no modern breech loaders.
There are a lot of very knowledgeable folks on both of them.
They helped me with my first build.
Think you will find more information there than just having a separate spot here where most of the folks do not have the same passion for the old smoke poles.
But I don't mind talking to anyone here about them.

When the libs finally win and we're reduced to flintlock carry only, that thread will be worth its weight in gold.

You should also check out Facebook (Sorry I have to say that.) but they do have more than one account dedicated to muzzleloaders and the time periods they were used in. Also a couple on the care and building of flintlocks.
