I'm fond of the 338 Win Mag cartridge, an excellent elk cartridge. My elk rifle is a Win Mod. 70 stainless with a pre-64 style controlled feed action and 26" barrel with a Leupold VX IV 2.5-8x scope. I changed out the original plastic stock for an H-S Precision stock and the rifle is a good shooter, usually 3/4" @ 100 yds. 5-shot groups. The rifle accounts for a number of elk over the years, it's never failed me when I've done my job of getting it on target. My usual bullet is the 250 gr. Sierra but have also used the 225 gr. Hornadys.

Do you plan on taking your new 338 out after elk?

It will be my elk gun. I had one several years ago and sold it.

Went to a gun show this weekend and scored two Glock 17 17rd mags from a gal who didnt know what she had. She just purchased an estate sale worth if gun items. I was able to get them from her for 15 each. I want to sleep at night so I didnt try to work the deal anymore than that. Nice lady. These mags are new, zero sign of use. I feel good about the purchase.

I was at the local Farm and Home supply for my fix of corn curls and needed some #4 buckshot. They had this which I've never heard of before. It looked like it had a plastic over the column wad and no buffer. I'd never heard of it before and so instead I found some Winchester that looked like it had some buffer between the shot charge for a dollar more.

Sometimes I have a hard time believing mine.
And it almost never reads the same as my Timney.
They're nice gauges though. Kind of hard to use on a Glock, but doable.

It's very sensitive that's for sure. I've been using it the way the instructions suggest, by pushing it slowly from behind the sensor. One of my CZ82's gave me consistent 3.98-4.1lbs of pull out of five in SA. But over 11lbs in DA! I believe it.

Whoa. Sonofagun. I stand corrected. You stating the instructions threw me.
I saw "electronic" and thought mine was a Wheeler. I have a Lyman.
That Wheeler looks pretty slick. No wonder it's so accurate. My Lyman has always read very inconsistent. I guess that's why they have an Average button on it.
    Now I want a Wheeler.
