Zanotti Safes--who's got'em? How do you like them?

Looks like I'm deploying within the next 8 months (previous deployment got cancelled)--and my finance committee has relented on getting a safe.

Given my somewhat transient nature (military), I'm looking at the Zanotti safes, either a ZA-II or ZA-III, for my safe: more easily transportable, yet offers needed protection from thieves.

For those who have Zanotti safes, would you recommend them? If not, why not? What would you recommend instead?

Electronic lock or spin dial with key?

BTW--I do own my house and have a finished basement to put said safe.

I have 2 large ones made by DBT - DBT Corp. is Detroit Bullet Trap Corp.
DBT made them before Zanotti.
I think DBT is now Meggitt Defense Systems & no longer making safes (having nothing to do with the quality of their products)
Anyway...Zanotti picked up the ball on the "take it apart - put it back together" safe idea and they improved the engineering design assembly/disassembly and the lock system and the interior shelf system. It's a sound and well designed engineering system.
I have moved mine myself a few times already.
One person can move the disassembled individual pieces.
The door is the heaviest part but, it is manageable with some expended sweat equity.
Once assembled they can (naturally) only be taken back apart again with access to the inside of the safe.
If you are moving around a lot then it's the only way to go.
They are quite secure. Mine is not fireproof.
I don't remember right now what the exact assembled weight of mine are 6 or 700lbs each...but, I have mine bolted together from the inside and additionally lag bolted to the floor (again from the inside) They are not likely going anywhere unless I move again.

Mine just has the dial combination lock and they predate the electronic lock so...I can't help you out there.

I am satisfied that mine serve their intended purpose very well and the Zanotti is greatly improved over mine so you should be quite happy if you order one. The system is pretty brilliant with its interlocking parts and once assembled it's secure.

The door surround system is designed in such a way that it's impossible to pry it open with any sort of crowbar or anything like that.
I suppose somebody could get into one with a cutting torch but, not likely that a house thief would have one of those handy. Even cutting the hinges off with a cutting torch will not gain you entry into the unit.

So, I would say go for the Zanotti.

I would have no idea these days...there are more than a few different models/sizes and options also.

Use the link I have provided up above. The phone # is there...call them up and ask for a brochure and some prices.

If some other member knows what the Zanotti safes cost...please post.

Thanks Dan...
I spoke with "Mark"--very personable...I asked about the electronic locks--he recommended I go with the brass spin dial. To sum up the conversation, he said the electronic lock was 10% of sales last year, but 90% of his problems.
We'll see how all of this turns out when it gets delivered in the middle of winter...
