Too long for them to read in it's entirety. It needs to be cut down to about 3 short paragraphs. Better would be a short list of actual defensive uses of a gun, especially an AR or AK. Bureaucraps don't read long letters of facts. They're touchy-feely people who rate feelings above facts generally.

    Done.

The letter's length, like its actual content, really is irrelevant.
All that counts is the subject matter and the raw number of respondents.

Chain letters or mass distributed letters get minimal attention, a count as one single response. Personally written letters get decent attention. Hand written letters get the most attention.

One of my cousins was a volunteer in the White House mail room.
His job was to tally the meanings of the letters received.
He had a separate page for each current issue, on which were separate columns for, for instance, "pro," "con," and "everything else."
And there was also a special bin for threat letters, all of which went to the Secret Service for follow-up.

All the Oval Office staff was interested in was the quantity of "pro"s and "con"s for each issue.
The letters were discarded, unread by anybody other than my cousin. And he merely scanned them for the tally.

So I stand by my statement, with the exception that some Senators and some Representatives have aides who actually read some of the letters received. But still, it's a numbers game.

If, for some reason, you wanted to contact your representatives, including the president on down to local officials, but not have the message boilerplated by the NRA, the link below allows you to easily get email and snail mail addresses, as well as phone numbers. One of the ways to improve effectiveness is to make each contact single issue. Don't make it just about "gun control." Be specific, like "red flag laws." Make separate contacts for UBCs, AWBs, etc. Cite actual bill numbers if you can. It's a bit more work, but worth it.

Done, thanks for the link even though I think our representatives, and I use that word loosely have gone deaf to their constituents lately.
But we have to keep trying.
